 Receive |

When you receive an ICQ event from another ICQ user - double-click the flashing icon or choose Receive from the pull down menu.

 Message |
|
Instant messages are at the heart of ICQ's feature list. Sending a message is as simple as selecting 'message' from the user menu, entering text and hitting 'send'. The message window opens automatically if you double-click a contact for which you have no unread messages.

 URL |
|
ICQ allows you to send Web page address (URL) to a user on your Contact List. After you select the URL action, a message window opens. In the event that you have a browser open to a certain location, the URL address will be automatically entered to your URL message.

 Contacts |
|
You have the possibility to send contact names from your ICQ Contact List to other ICQ users.
- Click on a user name that you want to send a contact name/s to and select Contacts.
- Place a check mark beside each of the contact names you want to send.
- Click the Send button.
|
 SMS |
|
You may send SMS (Short Messaging Service) messages to friends on their mobile phones, and receive replies directly to your ICQ.

 Chat |
|
You can use ICQ for real time text chats with your contacts. Simply send a chat message to the contact, and a chat window will open once that contact has accepted your chat invitation.
- If you want to chat with more than one person select "Join Session" on your chat request window.

 File |
|
You can use ICQ to exchange files with your contacts. To initiate a file transfer, either select File from the user actions menu, or drag a file to a contact on your list. ICQ allows you to send multiple files.

 Email |
|
You have the possibility of sending an Email to a user on your Contact List. This feature can only be used if the user entered his/her Email address in her/his ICQ User Details.

 Homepage |
|
Directs your Web browser to open your friend's homepage. This option is disabled if your friend's User Details do not contain a homepage address.
|
 History |
|
Opens the ICQ message archive for the current selected user. Every message that is exchanged between you and a user on your Contact List is stored in that user's message history. The history window contains the following functions:
- Viewing messages (by double clicking or selecting 'open').
- Deleting messages. To delete all messages, choose 'select all' and then 'delete'.
- Copying messages to the clipboard
- Saving all or part of your message history to text file.
- Dragging messages to other applications (e.g., to the finder to create a text clipping)

 User Details |
|
ICQ offers you the possibility of publishing diverse information about yourself - from your first and last name, through your residence, to free text about yourself. Once you save this information, it can be viewed by other ICQ users. Conversely, you can select the User Details function to view the information for your contacts.

 Rename |
|
Allows you to rename a contact on your list. |
 Delete |
|
Allows you to remove a contact from your list. |
