Click the Add/Search users button on the Contact List window
(or select File/Search-Add users) to search for your friends according to their Email addresses,
ICQ numbers or names.
The Contact List Assistant window has two search panes: Simple and Advanced. The simple search criteria include E-Mail, ICQ nickname, first/last name or ICQ number. Note that you can use wildcards in you search.
Example: Searching for Email address friend@ic* will match all users whose Email starts with the letters friend@ic, such as friend@icq.com, friend@icq.co.nz and friend@icsm.org.
Tip: For better search results try to avoid broad search queries (e.g., first name john).
Note: Searching by ICQ number takes precedence over all other criteria.
The Contact Search Window - simple version
The advanced search pane contains four more search parameters: Age group, country, gender and keyword.
You can combine these criteria to create very specific search queries. The Search by keyword
feature is a very powerful way to locate ICQ users: ICQ searches for users who have the keywords that
you indicate in their 'About' text, interest groups or any other textual field in their user details.
The keyword search assumes an 'and' relationship between the keywords entered.
Tip: If you are looking for new ICQ friends for immediate chat, you may check the 'Online Only'
box, which will limit the search results to ICQ users who are currently online.
