The Preferences dialog allows you to change preferences for the following item groups:
- General: set preferences for your status and for sending and receiving messages.
- Appearance: set preferences for how your ICQ program chat dialog looks.
- Sounds: set preferences for sounds for the various ICQ events.
- Email: set preferences for sending and checking your Email from ICQ

Note: Unlike the Contact List, Your ICQ preferences are only stored locally.
This means that if you register your ICQ# on another computer, or delete the account from your Mac,
your preferences will not be retained.
